About Us

Malcolm Maciver CEng MICE

Malcolm graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc. (Hons) in Civil Engineering and subsequently became a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Initially he worked for Tarmac Construction Major Projects Division on the Thames Barrier, Drax "B" Power Station and A38 Derby Bypass and gained valuable design experience in the Tarmac Central Engineering Department.

Back home in Stornoway he worked for Costain Civil Engineering Ltd on the Royal Air Force NATO Project. Then he moved to the Western Isles Council in the transportation section of the Technical Services Department.

In October 1997 this consultancy business was established and in April 2005 he was accepted by Structural Engineers Registration Ltd as an Approved Certifier of Design (Building Structures).

In 2004 Malcolm's elder son Scott joined the business.

Scott Maciver MEng

Scott graduated from Glasgow University in July 2004. During his holidays he was employed by MCS as a student engineer and joined the company full time after his graduation.

Scott has gained valuable experience in all aspects of topographical surveying and structural design. Projects he has worked on include the £2.1M Benbecula Airport Re-surfacing Works, the £4M Aline to Bowglass and Loch na Ciste Road Re-alignments, the £2M Lewis and Harris Water Treatment Programme and currently the £4.5M Bridge Community Centre.
