(Hons) in Civil Engineering and subsequently became a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.<\/p>\n<p>Initially\u00a0Malcolm worked for Tarmac Construction Major Projects Division on the Thames Barrier, Drax &#8220;B&#8221; Power Station and A38 Derby Bypass and gained valuable design experience in the Tarmac Central Engineering Department.<\/p>\n<p>Malcolm returned to\u00a0Stornoway in 1983 to work for Costain Civil Engineering Ltd on the Royal Air Force NATO Project.\u00a0\u00a0He then worked\u00a0for the Western Isles Council in the transportation section of the Technical Services Department.<\/p>\n<p>Maciver Consultancy Services Ltd\u00a0was established\u00a0in October 1997.\u00a0 In April 2005\u00a0Malcolm was accepted by Structural Engineers Registration Ltd as an Approved Certifier of Design (Building Structures).<\/p>\n<p>His elder son Scott returned to the island to join the business in 2004.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Scott Maciver BSc CENG MICE<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-72\" style=\"width:214px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maciverconsultancy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/scott-header.jpg\" alt=\"scott header\" width=\"167\" height=\"163\" \/><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Scott began his engineering career working for Maciver Consultancy Services Ltd during school holidays.\u00a0 He left the island in 2000 to begin his course on Civil Engineering at Glasgow University.\u00a0\u00a0Graduating in 2004 Scott returned home to join the company full time.\u00a0 In 2009 he sat his chartered exams and became a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.<\/p>\n<p>Scott has gained valuable experience in bridge assessments, SUDS design, structural design, topographical surveying\u00a0and renewable energy projects.\u00a0 He also specialises in timber frame design and completed his own house-building project in 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malcolm Maciver BSc CENG MICE Malcolm graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc.
