The Shared Accommodation Unit consisted of the construction of bedroom, kitchen and living space for people seeking short term accommodation. Maciver Consultancy Services Ltd provided structural engineering services to supplement the other Consultancy work, which was provided by CNES Technical Services Department. The Contractor on the project was Alex Murray Construction Ltd.
The structural engineering element of the project included the design of a two storey timber frame structure. Due to the poor ground conditions a significant volume of peat had to removed from site and an engineered infill platform was constructed. The structural foundation was a reinforced concrete raft.
